Job DescriptionPosition Summary:Vertex Cell and Genetic
Therapies (VCGT) is seeking a Senior Scientific Associate to join
our dynamic Process Development Engineering Team in Boston, MA.
Cell and genetic therapies represent two rapidly emerging
therapeutic modalities with the potential to treat-and even
cure-several of the diseases Vertex is focused on, including sickle
cell disease, Duchenne muscular dystrophy and type 1 diabetes. Our
Vertex Cell and Genetic Therapies (VCGT) teams will bring together
the best biology, technologies, and enhanced manufacturing
capabilities to ensure we bring these cutting-edge transformative
therapies to patients as quickly as possible.This Senior Scientific
Associate role will help expand our cell therapy capabilities
within the Drug Product Development Team. The successful candidate
will contribute to drug product development activities for cell
therapy products across a range of VCGT programs. This position
requires foundational knowledge of biology, hands-on experience
with cell culture, strong communication and organizational skills,
as well as proven adaptability and collaboration.Key
Responsibilities:
- Support the execution of drug product development studies for
cell therapy products including cell culture processing and
biopreservation
- Demonstrate agility and initiative by proactively taking on new
responsibilities, and embracing opportunities to learn, while
adapting to shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Maintain data integrity through accurate and timely
documentations, including electronic notebook system, development
protocols, and technical reports
- Prepare and present concise data summaries and study updates in
team meetings
- Ensure compliance with lab safety proceduresEducation and
Experience:
- Associate or bachelor's degree in Bioengineering, Biomedical
Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biology
or related field with 2-4 years of industry or equivalent academic
experience
- Previous hands-on experience with aseptic practices and cell
culture is required.
- Fundamental knowledge and prior experience with stem cell
culture are preferred.
- Familiarity with cell cryopreservation and related experience
is a plus.
- Ability to work efficiently both independently and within a
highly collaborative environment, with strong attention to detail
and a thorough approach to experimental execution and
documentation
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Contract
Duration: 12 monthPay Range$38/hr. - $42/hr.Shift/HoursMonday -
