Always, we are guided by a single purpose: As we drive towards curing type 1 diabetes, we help make everyday life better for the people who face it.As a key member of Medical Affairs Team, the Director, Medical Affairs - National is engaged in developing, managing and communicating the clinical adoption strategy for T1D disease modifying therapies and cellular solutions. This position will manage clinical adoption strategies with the ability to create new approaches to HCP education and lead efforts to establish more efficient United States processes for clinical programs and multidisciplinary centers of reference in T1D. The Director will report to the Senior Director, Medical Affairs and partner with the CMO and the AVP, Medical Affairs to develop, drive and support Breakthrough T1D's overall clinical and medical affairs strategy and future clinical and research initiatives.SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide guidance on type 1 diabetes clinical matters to leaders across the organization and with external health/medical, regulatory and public and private payer organizations in the United States
- Provide motivational leadership to a highly motivated Medical Affairs team, providing guidance, mentorship, and fostering a collaborative and innovative culture.
- Stay abreast of scientific and clinical advancements in autoimmune diseases and diabetes, cell therapies, and trends in T1D research and clinical care to inform strategic decision-making.
- Engage with the diabetes clinical community, presenting research findings, and building relationships with key stakeholders and drive the future clinical direction for the Foundation.
- Provide accredited HCP education including symposia at international clinical conferences (ADA, ACDES, NNPS etc.) as well as accredited offerings available in person, virtual online, and on demand.
- Set priorities for clinical guidelines and work with relevant clinical organizations to ensure latest clinical guidelines are published.
- Participate in the review, planning and implementation of clinical trials, including objectives, study design, feasibility, regulatory requirements, and identifying medical issues that may impede the study.
- Provide medical review for Breakthrough T1D -s communications as needed.
- Drive all global programs related to medical advances in Type 1 diabetes with special emphasis on disease modifying and cell therapies
- Liaise with academic and industry sponsors on clinical matters
to accelerate adoption of immunomodulatory and cellular therapy for
T1DQualificationsYEARS OF EXPERIENCE:
- 5 or more years' experience in patient care and
researchKNOWLEDGE/EDUCATION:
- MD/ DO with current license to practice medicine
- Knowledge of type 1 diabetes or (kidney) transplantation
- Knowledge in clinical research/implementation scienceOTHER
REQUIREMENTS:
- Health care program experience.
- Program management experience.
- Experience working cross-functionally in designing, developing, and implementing programs to address strategic organizational needs.
- Experience of national public speaking skills.
- Ability to effectively multi-task, establish priorities, and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Detail-oriented and strong organizational skills. Capable of handling diversified assignments.
- Exceptional interpersonal and collaboration skills.
- Exceptional track record in relationship-building and maintenance with the ability to interface with all levels of staff, volunteers and partners preferred.
- Strong capacity to learn and utilize technical and scientific information needed to advance project goals.
- Experience interfacing with patients in a health care
setting.Target Salary - $150k - $190kEssential Functions:The
